Description
I have worked within the Care Sector for six years. I started out with an office based role for a care company and then moved on to supported living. I have experience supporting individuals within services based in the community. I first started off working in one service which was home to three gentlemen, all of whom had severe autism and learning difficulties. These gentleman got 24 hour care for their needs which included medication administration, personal care (including shaving, bathing) meal prep, driving and financial support. I also supported one of these clients on overnight holidays to Newcastle and Donegal.
After one year I moved to a different service under the same company where I was for a year and a half. This service was home to one young girl with severe autism and learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. My main job roles where the same including being assigned as her key worker.
Throughout my time as a SW with AI I also provided Outreach Services to three families. One in Tamnamore, Cookstown and Armagh.
Since leaving AI I stayed on with one of these families through the Trust and am still currently working with them providing a Respite Sit every week for their son who has Autism and Learning Difficulties.
After leaving the company I moved to a different Care Company in County Armagh and was based within a service of 6 service users, all of whom had special needs. My role was again similar with similar responsibilities. I was here for one year.
I am now employed with an agency where I work as a Nursing Auxiliary within the hospital.
I have continued to stay within the care sector since starting out and really enjoy the work that I do and the bonds that I make with not only the clients but with families and colleagues also.
I find it easy and enjoyable to settle in to the clients way of living and their communication preferences and am very understanding to their needs.
